On September 30th, 2016, I will officially be unemployed thanks to various layoffs my current company is implementing.
Currently, I am a UI/UX Designer that worked on a contract with the USMC-PM Ammo division located in Stafford, Virginia. Prior to that, I spent the last year working on the US State Department’s Embassy website redesign project. My responsibility was to design all of the main pages that had already been wire framed by the State Department’s UI/UX designer. If you are in another country and have lost your Passport or Visa, when you go to the US Embassy website, you will see all of my design work on those sites.
I have extensive experience in a wide assortment of design skills – everything from traditional print design all the way up to mobile, responsive UI/UX work like the US Embassy sites. I have co-wrote two books published by New Riders press that taught people how to use all of the (at the time) Macromedia programs such as Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash and Freehand. I have self-published four books myself in which I designed everything… from the full-color cover designs to the interior page designs using a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
I have extensive experience with social media marketing having spent the last nine years using social media to help advertise my own comic strip. Since starting my little comic strip in 2007, I have amassed over 3,000 Twitter followers and have a small but loyal following on Facebook and other social media applications.
Although I would not call or consider myself an “expert”, I have experience writing HTML, creating and designing websites using CSS. I can read, edit and troubleshoot a lot of CSS problems but it is not something I consider my “specialty” or that I am exceptionally fast at. My skills are much more on the front-end of creating mock-ups, high fidelity prototypes and wire frames at a super fast and efficient rate.
If any of this sounds interesting to you or if you know of anyone that might be able to use my particular skill sets, I would welcome the opportunity to interview and show my portfolio to them. My current, up-to-date resume is located on the Resume page of this web site.
